Best Hotels in Phoenix to Pool Hop this Summer

April 18, 2018Phoenix, Travel2

Well, it’s that time of year again. Arizona has skipped spring and gotten right to the 95 degree weather. It’s days like these that make me wonder why I live in Arizona sometimes. But if there’s one thing that I am good at and make a point to do to escape the AZ heat, it’s pool hop around the many hotels. So I’m rounding up my favorite hotels to stop by to get my tan and swim on.

1. The Saguaro

Okay let’s be real here. If you follow along with my blog, you’ve probably noticed that I’ve mentioned The Saguaro about 343948394 times now. Why? Because I just love it that much. Although you’re supposed to be a hotel guest, this one is really easy to get into. All you to do is simply reach over the gate and open it, no key required. Also, if anyone from the Saguaro is reading this.. I’m sorry. Please don’t be mad at me. With it’s colorful 70’s vibes, frozen rosé, and piña coladas, it’s the perfect place to sprawl out a towel and soak up the sun. If you’re in Arizona, there’s a good chance you’ll catch me here on a weekly basis.

2. The Valley Ho

Okay so this is another hotel that I’ve mentioned in the past in my Hipster Guide to Phoenix and with good reason. This one is a little harder to get into, or so I’ve experienced. But I also recently learned that you can go to the front desk and ask for pool access. Not entirely sure if this is true but always worth the shot, right? If it doesn’t work, wait for someone to go in or leave and head on in and enjoy. Much like the Saguaro, this retro feeling resort transports you back in time while giving you relief from the heat.

At this point, I spend all my free time at hotel pools & I’m not mad about it

3. Tempe Mission Palms

If you’re more in the Tempe area, this one is perfect for you. This rooftop pool brings you views of downtown Tempe and Mill Ave and it’s the perfect spot to watch the sunset. When I’ve visited, one of my favorite parts was that it was far less crowded than some of the other hotels that I’ve mentioned. It’s much more family friendly and you won’t find a DJ blasting music there if you’re looking for a more low key experience.

4. Mountain Shadows

This is one of the newer resorts in the Phoenix area and it has a much more modern look in comparison to the first two groovy spots. Here you will find two 75 foot pools connected by a waterfall that offer the views of Camelback Mountain. This spot is becoming hotter and hotter so I would not be surprised if next time I visit, the pool is jam packed. It’s the perfect place to let off steam and unwind.

Ringing in 24 the only way I know how: laying by the pool and sipping piña coladas 🍹

Are there any favorite hotels that you visit in Phoenix that I didn’t mention that you love?

Totally guilty of sneaking into the Saguaro often 😉 I’d also recommend checking out Hotel Adeline on Scottsdale! It’s right by the Scott, so you may as well pool hop all day long!
