Phoenix Date Night: The Parlor + Bowling

September 22, 2017Phoenix, Travel0

Like most people, I’m always looking for good date night ideas, especially one’s that you can do in Phoenix. So I got to thinking. Why not make it a goal of mine to go out on dates a few times a months and then review them so that those in Phoenix who are looking for something to do. I recently celebrated my 24th birthday and decided to do dinner and bowling. So if you’re looking for a little something for a delicious dinner followed by a competitive game of bowling, this is for you.

The Parlor

I really struggled when trying to figure out where I wanted to eat. I knew I wanted to go somewhere that I had never been before. There are two great loves of my life. Mexican food and Italian food. We had been to a Mexican restaurant for my birthday last year and a tacos and tequila restaurant for our anniversary so that automatically crossed those off our list. Which left Italian. I racked my brain and spent hours on Yelp before I finally decided on The Parlor, known to have the best pizza in Arizona. When we got there, we both decided on a glass of wine. I went for the nebbiolo (which I still don’t exactly know what a nebbiolo is..) and Adam chose the malbec and both we were satisfied with our choices. As for food, I went with the pappardelle bolognese and he got the margherita pizza. In my personal opinion, it was incredible. It was everything I’d want in an Italian restaurant. You could tell the pasta was homemade and from the slice of pizza that I stole, I continued to be impressed. I would recommend this spot for anyone who’s looking for a more romantic atmosphere and even better food.

Bowlmor

Growing up, I was always a big bowling fan. How can you not love it? The older I’ve gotten, the less I’ve gone. Yet every time I do go, I quickly remember how much fun it truly is and how I need to do it more often. They recently renovated and redid the AMF that was on Thomas and Scottsdale Rd. and gave it a facelift. I looked online, found out the deals they were having, signed up for a coupon, and we were on our way. Every day of the week, they usually have some kind of deal going on so be sure to check their website to see what it is. For Sunday, they had 3 dollar games and shoe rentals plus drink specials so it ended up being pretty reasonably priced. In fact, we had so much fun the we bought 3 games, played them all, and bought a 4th. Unfortunately I only won 1 (if anyone wants to start a mediocre bowling league, I’m your girl) of the 4 games but I had a great time. To top it off, their drink specials included $3 margaritas. Let’s just say that we might have split a couple margs (which only resulted in me getting better at bowling. Coincidence? I think not). No matter how old you are, I think bowling is a perfect way to spend a night. It’s truly nostalgic.

If you’re twiddling your thumbs on a Friday, unsure of what to do, check these out. It’s a sure fire way to have a lighthearted night full of laughter. That sounded a lot cheesier than I thought it would… Anywho. If you’re in the Phoenix area, is there something that has caught your eye for date night? I’m always looking for more suggestions or things to try out for you guys! Until next time. XO
